Ok, so here’s the deal, chapter 122 just showed up. If you remember, we were on 117. Obviously, that’s quite a gap. It’s always a pain in the ass to figure out exactly what to do in these situations, so we figured how about we ask the readers what they want. So, with no further ado, the poll (use other if you have a more specific time frame you want):

Minor update:

The translation has been done for a while and doesn’t seem to have any particularly egregious context issues. Most people indicated that they’d prefer to wait for the raws to be filled in, so we’re going to just be waiting for the time being. that said, we’ll continue to evaluate the situation as time goes on.

A note, we’re not even entirely sure what exactly is going on in the chapter; missing a few chapters will do that. Obviously, this might cause some slight contextual translation issues that might need to be later fixed. Just keep that in mind.

  Hey, when I’m working on ‘setting stuff I sometimes leave speech bubbles blank (or filled in with red, so I know I have to deal with it) until I can ask the translator for clarification.
  
  I guess how long you should wait just depends on when you think the missing chapters will become available. If there’s something set up for you to get them, you should wait until then; if you think the only way you’ll get the chapters is to wait for the volume release, then release the chapter sooner. And of course that’s a sliding scale.

I say do whatever works best for you guys. If you think the chapters might show up soon, or the translation is too hard to figure out without context, then wait, but otherwise release it when you finish it.

The issue isn’t really going to be the translation all that much — the worst tends to be some pronouns here and there. Overall, the work on our end isn’t really the issue; we’re mostly concerned with making sure nobody is forced to deal with compromising their reading experience.

Some people can’t resist the raws, and they’d benefit more from just having it in English. Others might be able to resist raws, but not English releases, thus a release makes them read it out of order. Still other people people will read the raws either way, and would just like the English in order. There are countless other ways people could look at it from, and it’s hardly so clear cut. Our thinking was that it’s better to ask the readers themselves rather than, in essence, make the choice for them.

Also, to be clear here, I don’t blame anyone for reading out of sequence or reading raws. It’s just way to tempting after waiting so long (we actually have the benefit of not really having a choice in the matter). Besides, I’ve been there myself a few times.

Honestly I voted for another week of wait.

WAiting for all the chapters between 117 and 122 to be released is a bit delicate because we don’t even know if the raws are on the internet. I say you should release it and those who don’t want to read, well just don’t read it.

If I’m correct, chapter 117 was the final chapter of volume 14. That means those chapters are a part of vol 15. If you don’t find the raws we will have to wait for the release of vol 15 in Japan, and since vol 14 was just released last month, I’m sure we’ll have to wait.

Isn’t UDDUP a bi monthly release? Does this mean we’ve been waiting for 2 months? At this point the tank might show up before the mag scans.
BTW whats the interval between mag release and tank release?

I’m not entirely sure about the normal time for a tank, but the magazine in twice a month like you said. So yeah, we’re missing 2 months of raws. A tank scan might be a while unfortunately.

  Hmm…actually what I’m thinking is that some groups don’t even bother with mag scans at all. Don’t they take up a donation collection to purchase and ship the tank when it comes out and just scan their own raws?
  I don’t know what that would entail but whatever y’all decide to do that might be another option to get the missing chapters. And given the popularity of UDDUP and Nihil Sine Nefas’s awesome job scanlating it so far I’m sure you’d find people willing to help all over the internets.
  I’m also sure that others must be just as heart-broken to see this awesome manga go the wayside because scans are missing; so you’d have willing…accomplices?…partners?
  Anyway that’s just a suggestion. I understand that it might be untenable with the way scanlators are being cracked down upon recently.

I’m french so first of all sorry for my bad english. I think you ‘re doing a good job. When you began the translations I was so happy I thought I could die without regret and so I respect you and I’m grateful and each time you release a chapter I bless you. Now, there’s this chapter, I’ve waited desperately so long that I’m dying to know what’s happening and therefore I wish you translate it. Because people who want to wait can wait, they aren’t compelled to ddl it. Besides if you translate it now the job is done and when the previous chapters finally show up you’ll be less in a hurry because at least this chapter 122 will be already translated.
So well I really hope you translate it, and again thank you a thousand time for everything, you’re great !

I’m a huge fan of UDDUP and as a matter of preference, I like to read the chapters in the order they are release. But having said that, if it there’s an uncertainty about the availability of the missing chapters even after giving yourselves a time lapse of a couple of weeks to a month, then I’d say just go ahead with whatever you have. Eventually, you gaiz will go back to releasing the missing chapters once they are available down the line…and we don’t know how long that will be. I reckon it means we have to wait for a future tank release if the missing mag chapters are still not available. In any case, there’ll be lots of waiting. xD

I prefer to read this in order, so wait a little longer (up to you how long) to see if anyone is motivated by the appearance of 122 to fill the gap in between. You’re working on 122 in the meantime, anyway, I assume. If the other chs don’t pop up in a reasonable amount of time, then you can release 122. We’ll just have to guess at what happened in between until someone gets the tank or chs later.
