Ikigami – c.3

This concludes episode one.

Edit: Alright, so I might as well explain what happened with this series here. Initially we halted the project due to licensing and the fact that we didn’t feel we would make enough headway on the series to justify doing it against official release. We did, however, say we would come back and edit the series if a translator showed up and was able to provide us with translations fast enough to make head way.

A very gracious and hard working translator did in fact show up, giving us translations and a translator for the series. We were actually working on several chapters and had a few basically done when Imangascans showed up with chapter 4. We evaluated the situation and saw that they would probably be able to provide faster scans than us, while still maintaining good quality (due in large part because Ikigami ended up being relegated to a side project for us). We judged that any possible quality gain by us doing the project was negligible next to the assume speed gain of IMS doing it.

Accordingly, we decided to not release the chapter we had done, but rather hand over the translation and translator (of course pending her volition in the matter), so as to effectively allow them to continue in their scanlations. I think it’s more important that the series be done fast and well enough that quality gains are negligible. I believe that more so than I care about us specifically doing it even if we have the means to do it decently (as stated, I would consider a negligible quality drop better than a speed drop, as most every fan would).

I wish the best of luck to the translator and Imangascans, and would like to thank both of them for their initiative and effort with Ikigami.
